It is said that tea began after a monk had fallen asleep amidst a vow of meditation. He was so disgusted with himself that he tore off his eyelids and threw them to the ground. Amazingly, a shrub grew from his discarded eyelids, a tea plant, with the properties of mental clarity that would become legendary.
speaking of brewing...an interesting thing to study is the tea ceremony processes.
ReplyDeletei have seen many pour hot water over their tea leaves and throw that batch out first. and there is an optimal hot water temperature (not boiling/rolling/scalding hot) to pour according to my grandmother :)
I'll be the first to agree with your grandmother, there is never one right way to make tea there are many one right ways.
